MORE ABOUT GAYLE

Gayle Brady, BA (Hons), B.Ed, MC, RCC  has over 25 years of professional experience working with children, teens, and families. She began her career as a teacher and now works as a clinical counsellor and psychotherapist. Gayle enjoys providing therapeutic collaboration for clients as they navigate life's challenges and opportunities for growth. One of the things that sets Gayle apart from others is her ability to quickly establish rapport with clients as well as her vast experience writing comprehensive and detailed reports and assessments as a teacher and as a counsellor.

Gayle is passionate about mindful and purposeful parenting and supporting parents and caregivers on this challenging yet meaningful journey. In addition to her Master's work in Counselling Psychology, she completed additional training with the Dalai Lama Centre for Peace + Education and the Inner Resilience Program to facilitate Skills For Life For Families (En famille: S'outiller pour la vie) workshops for parents of school aged children. She is also a trained facilitator of SENG Model Parent Groups (SMPG) for parents and caregivers of gifted and 2E children. Providing a safe space for parents to learn, share, and grow with others is an important part of her practice. Ask about online and in-person groups in your area.

Dedicated to child and youth mental health and building safe and caring school communities, Gayle continues to work part-time with students, staff, and parents as a clinical counsellor in the Francophone School Authority in Surrey. Although she has extensive training and experience in Risk of Suicide Assessments (ROSAs) and Violent Threat Risk Assessments (VTRAs), Gayle's focus is to provide thoughtful and appropriate intervention and support for individuals and families following these events.

A highly respected advocate for gifted children and adults, Gayle serves on the Board of Directors for SENG, a nonprofit organization that empowers families and communities to guide gifted and talented individuals to reach their goals: intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually (www.sengifted.org). Gayle's research and expertise in giftedness has been further enriched by her own experience as a parent of two PG children. Her deep understanding and knowledge of this underserved population allows her to help many gifted individuals and families embrace their intensities and complexities and optimize personal growth.

It's been said that movement is medicine and that exercise and time spent in nature is particularly restorative. In the summer months Gayle enjoys hikes, bike rides, and lazy beach days with her family. In winter she spends weekends in the mountains with her husband, children, dog, and their ski patrol family. Gayle has been a volunteer with the Canadian Ski Patrol for 15 years and finds it to be the perfect antidote to rainy winter days on the coast.
